The Karmapas, whose line of reincarnations dates back to the 12th century, have always been among the most outstanding masters in Tibetan Buddhism. H. H. the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (1924-1981), was instrumen­tal in making the teachings of the Kagyu School accessible worldwide.

His reincarnation, the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, was born in Lhasa in 1983 and has been living in India since 1994. This film affords an insight into the Karmapa's life from 1994 to 2008:

Join the Karmapa while he is studying and meditating at home, during official events, and while he is receiving transmissions from great Buddhist masters such as H. H. Kunzig Shamarpa, H. E. Chobgye Tri Rinpoche, H. E. Luding Khen Rinpoche, and the Ven. Khenchen Trinley Pajor Rinpoche.
